Matthew Muellenhoff, DO, FAOCD
As founder and Medical Director of SIERRADERM, Dr. Muellenhoff started practicing dermatology in Grass Valley in 2004. He grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area where his family has resided since the 1940’s. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of California at Davis prior to receiving his Osteopathic medical degree from Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, California.
Dr. Muellenhoff completed his one- year internship at Downey Regional Medical Center, also in Southern California, before completing his 3-year Dermatology residency training at NOVA Southeastern/ Sun Coast Hospital, in Tampa, Florida. While there, Dr. Muellenhoff was honored to serve as Chief Resident of Dermatology. Dr. Muellenhoff is board certified in Dermatology, a Fellow of the American Osteopathic College of Dermatology, and member of the American Academy of Dermatology.
He has published several articles in nationally and internationally recognized medical journals including the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, International Journal of Dermatology, and Journal of Investigative Dermatology. He has had the opportunity to lecture at local, regional and national dermatology meetings and has ongoing commitments in clinical research.
Adam Payne, MPA, PA-C
Adam Payne moved to Nevada County and began working with SIERRADERM in February 2014. Previously, Mr. Payne worked for more than 4 years in dermatology offices located in the Southern California area. He is trained in all aspects of patient care including the diagnosis and treatment of various skin disorders such as acne, eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, skin cancer diagnosis and treatment, mole evaluation as well as melanoma screening. He is proficient in surgical removal of skin cancer and moles, skin biopsy and is also experienced in a variety of cosmetic services including laser, botox and dermal fillers. Mr. Payne received his Bachelor of Science at California Polytechnic University in Pomona, California in 2006 and his Masters in Physician Assistant studies at the Samuel Merritt University in Oakland, California obtaining his physician assistant certification in 2009. Prior to becoming a physician assistant, Mr. Payne spent 8 years working close to dermatologists as a Mohs Histotechnician supervisor; there he assisted Mohs micrographic surgeons in skin cancer removal through preparing and preserving tissue samples for analysis.
